A 235 carat, cape yellow diamond was reportedly found in South Africa by Nare Diamonds, a small unlisted miner.
The rare find was made at Nare’s Schmidtsdrift mine, which went online last month.
Three months ago a De Beers employee picked up a 316.7 carats diamond at the Venetia mine in South Africa. Such lare diamonds are rare.
Blakeney Management, a London investment management firm, owns approximately 25 percent of Nare Diamonds; Lonrho Africa holds another 17 percent. Nare is reportedly planning to go public on London’s Aim by the end of the year.
